Local Red Cross Chapter Lands $15,000 Grant for Displaced NKY Families

The nonprofit has responded to a dramatic increase in home fires over the past year, due to households staying home much more in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. While the national number of home fires rose 16 percent over the last year, Northern Kentucky saw a 39 percent increase. Red Cross was able to quickly meet each affected family, disbursing nearly $75,000 in their last fiscal year alone to hundreds of Northern Kentuckians.

Local Family and Friends Rally to Raise $32,000 for Carlotta Scholarship Fund

Friends and family members of Sam and Tonya Carlotta, and their son Cameron, raised more than $32,000 in a matter of weeks to launch a new scholarship fund for students attending Cooper High School in Boone County. If enough donations are made, they hope to include scholarships to students at Boone County High School also, their alma mater.

Friends of Boone County Arboretum Plugs in with Horizon Community Funds

The Friends of Boone County Arboretum now hold a fund in partnership with Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky, with the latter agency serving as an administrative support and donor outreach partner. The Boone County Arboretum, the nation’s very first arboretum, is a 121-acre system of trails, park space, and a 2+ mile multi-use trail just outside Union, Kentucky.

EC Learn Introduces New Fund to Support Work with NKY Children, Families

EC LEARN (Early Childhood Learning Education Assessment Resource Network) has announced a new way for donors to support its work as a local child care resource and referral agency in Northern Kentucky. The EC LEARN Fund at Horizon Community Funds provides donors a way to support the nonprofit’s work in the future through an endowed gift, or as needs arise through a non-endowed gift.

Northern Kentucky Montessori Academy Launches Partnership with Horizon Community Funds
