Director of Marketing and Engagement

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky is looking for a Director of Marketing and Engagement to join our team.  The Director of Marketing and Engagement will bring the organization’s brand to life; develop and implement comprehensive plans to engage and inform various target audiences; manage media relations; create informational publications; coordinate public events and meetings; and support grant application processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages communications, marketing, brand messaging and research, and community storytelling
  • Manages media relations and creation of press releases
  • Directs video production and professional photography
  • Creates informational/promotional materials, including print materials, presentations, banners, promotional items, and annual reports
  • Develops social media communication plan
  • Supervises website to ensure continuity in branding and messaging
  • Creates quarterly print newsletters for a broad platform of readers
  • Supports President & CEO in engagement with Northern Kentucky organizations and leaders
  • Supports grant application processes and communications with nonprofit applicants
  • Manages events and gatherings with community, professional advisors, and donors 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in journalism, marketing, English, public relations, or related area preferred
  • Strong writing and editing skills, including ability to write attention-grabbing media materials, partner correspondence, reporting documents, social media posts and other integrated marketing materials
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills
  • Ability to develop and implement public relations strategies, social media and marketing plans and drive smart, tactical marketing initiatives
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with local leaders and media to generate awareness of organizational goals and community needs
  • Strong computer and technology skills with understanding of website management and social media tools
  • Experience in publication layout and design preferred
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Solid time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated personal initiative with creative insights on organizational communication strategies
  • Experience in event planning
  • An appreciation of the role that philanthropy plays in building community

COMPENSATION

  • Salary: $80,000-$90,0000
  • Hours: Full-time (may work more hours around events or meetings)
