Horizon Community Funds Grows Council of Trustees

Drees Homes, MCF Advisors executives join board

Covington, KY – The Council of Trustees that governs Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky recently voted to add Barbara Drees Jones and Bob Sathe to serve on the board, effective immediately.

“We are both pleased and excited to have Barbara Drees Jones and Bob Sathe join the Council of Trustees of the Horizon Community Funds,” said Bill Butler, Chairman of the Council. “Both of these individuals have demonstrated their love for this Northern Kentucky community and their generous service to helping those in need and to advancing our quality of life. They will be great additions to this prestigious board of leaders.”

Barbara Drees Jones is Vice President of Marketing at Drees Homes. She is a third-generation member of the private, family-owned company. Barbara began her career at Drees in May 1991 and holds a marketing degree from Miami University, as well as an MBA from the University of Cincinnati.

Past professional affiliations include President of the Northern Kentucky Home Builders Association and involvement in Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and United Way. Barbara is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees of Devou Properties, Inc., a nonprofit board whose funds benefit Devou Park in Covington, Kentucky. She also serves as President of the Drees Homes Foundation.

Drees Homes is the thirtieth largest home builder in the country as ranked by BUILDER Magazine. Headquartered in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, the company also has operations in Cincinnati and Cleveland OH; Indianapolis IN; Nashville TN; Raleigh NC; Jacksonville FL; Washington D.C.; and Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston TX.

Robert B. Sathe, CLU, ChFc® is Chairman of MCF Advisors, a wealth management firm serving corporate and private clients with retirement, risk management and investment management services. Prior to founding MCF, Bob was the Regional Chief Executive Officer for CIGNA Financial Advisors. He was with CIGNA for 30 years before retiring in the year 2000.

Sathe has served on many boards in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky including Playhouse in the Park, Carnegie Arts Center, Thomas Moore College, Thomas Moore College Foundation, Cincinnati Ballet, Fine Arts Institute, Fine Arts Annual Fund, Metropolitan Club, Coldstream Country Club, Cancer Family Care, Boy Scouts, Red Cross, Bethesda Hospitals, MMC, INC., Executive Committee for the Institute for Religious Liberty and was a Founder of The Bank of Kentucky.

In 1992, he received his Honorary Doctorate from Thomas More College for his work while on the board. He has also been recognized with the Dorothy Wood Community Service Award by Redwood School, Barbara Roe Lang Special Service Award by Cancer Family Care, the Bishop Hughes Award for his contribution to Catholic higher education in Kentucky and the Presidents’ Award by his alma mater Luther College. Bob has chaired many fundraising efforts in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati.
