scholarship funds

considering a scholarship fund

Our scholarship funds provide a meaningful way for donors to honor loved ones, support local students, and invest in the next generation of community leaders. By establishing a scholarship fund with Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky, you create a lasting legacy that directly impacts students in our region, helping them achieve their educational and career goals.

A Scholarship Fund Designed for You

Scholarships can be customized to reflect your values and priorities. You may choose to support students from a specific school or county, those pursuing certain fields of study, or those demonstrating financial need or academic excellence. Whether you want to honor a teacher who shaped your life, support students entering the medical field, or help graduates from your hometown, we will work with you to design a fund that aligns with your vision.

Maximize Your Impact and Tax Benefits

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Horizon Community Foundation ensures that your scholarship fund qualifies for maximum tax benefits. Whether established by an individual, family, business, or organization, our team administers scholarships in accordance with donor criteria, working with volunteer reviewers to select recipients.

Incorporating Scholarships into Estate Planning

Scholarship funds can also be established through wills, trusts, or other planned giving vehicles. If you are a financial advisor helping a client create a legacy, we are happy to discuss how our scholarship program can serve as a meaningful and lasting way to support education in Northern Kentucky.

In the summer of 2021, without my knowledge, my friends and family raised over $30,000 in six weeks. That is how the Carlotta Friends and Family Scholarship Fund started and we have continued to grow ever since. Over the last few years, we have had applications from the four Boone County High Schools (Boone, Cooper, Conner and Ryle) and Union Pointe Academy and have awarded forty-four scholarships totaling $34,000. Every dollar has been donated by individuals in our community and we would not be this successful without the help of our great partners, Horizon Community Foundation.
