About Mary
There are many descriptors for Mary. Knitter. Reds fan. Dog lover. Mom and wife and sister and friend and neighbor. Most of the Beechwood community knew her though as a guidance counselor. Mary had been a guidance counselor at two other schools before joining Beechwood. After her boys graduated from Beechwood, she was offered the role and gladly accepted. During her 16 years at Beechwood, she helped numerous students find the path that was appropriate for them. As a guidance counselor, she balanced a plethora of responsibilities, but her true passion was helping young adults find their best life path.
About Guidance Counseling
While many people associate counseling with addressing problems, a significant portion of it is helping children achieve their potential. Counselors will help kids select classes, suggest activities, manage day-to-day or ongoing challenges, and ultimately assist preparing for life after high school.
Eligibility and Criteria for the Scholarship
The Mary Philippe Scholarship is open to any graduating Beechwood student. Candidates should exemplify the traits that Mary would most appreciate; a love for learning and an interest in helping others.
